Karen Horne is honored to have her work again included in this annual showcase of contemporary Utah artwork, which has taken place every year since 1922 (except during WWII). This exhibition showcases the diversity and quality of Utah art in a variety of media, with over 200 pieces juried from over a thousand entries. Horne’s cityscape painting “Inside Looking Out at Abravanel Hall” is installed in the East Gallery (just to the right of the lobby). This extensive and varied exhibition runs through July 2, 2022.
Some thoughts Horne shared on her painting:
“I love capturing the visual effects of cities at night. In this scene, inside and outside merge into a tapestry. The viewer moves from the dramatic interior of Salt Lake City’s Abravanel Hall, with its iconic red Chihuly sculpture, out ot the rainy mysterious streetscape. The iconic spires of the Salt Lake Temple rise nearby.”
